April Flowers

I know the saying is "April showers bring May flowers" but there have been more flowers thus far in my April than showers. And that is a good, good thing! :) These beauties were a gift from Joe. Such a great surprise!

I know it's only been three months, but when I first started this blog I was unsure of how long I would keep it up. Last summer I stumbled upon What I Wore, the first fashion blog I ever read. Through Jessica's blog I found a whole plethora of independent fashion blogs and was totally intrigued. At first I thought it was just all about documenting your outfits-which it is in a way... and that part is really fun! I love seeing how certain outfits look in pictures as opposed to how I viewed them just by looking in the mirror.

What I have learned over the last three months is that it's about much more than just showcasing your wardrobe. It really is a community. The women (and some men) who blog are full of amazing ideas. I've been inspired by countless numbers of outfit posts from different bloggers. It really has been fun digging around in my closet and finding old pieces I had forgotten all about. And I have actually shopped less since I started blogging too! (Of course there are the occasional "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THAT" moments... *ahem* seychelles heels!)

I also love that these blogs have inspired me to start thrifting again. I used to go to thrift stores ALL the time in high school and early college. Of course back then I was mostly buying little kid t-shirts, but every once in a while I would drag home a real treasure. My life has been pretty hectic lately, but once it settles down a bit the plan is to start hitting up vintage/thrift stores again on a regular basis!

Game Time

Happy Monday, everyone! Just a quick post for today... I'm too excited/nervous to write very much! In case you missed it, Butler (my alma mater) is in the national championship game tonight against Duke! Send the bulldogs some good vibes tonight... and if you're not into basketball, you can root for Butler for the sole reason that our real life macot, Butler Blue Two, is the cutest mascot ever.

Okay, onto outfit posts. I won't lie, these pictures are from last Thursday. Last Friday and today I have sported Butler t-shirts (not very fashionable.)

It was amazing outside and was the first time I've gone sans tights this spring!

It was also very windy out, so my hair was in my face like crazy. Off to grab some more caffiene and finish up some stuff at the office before my friends get into town!

It's Official

Well it's official... spring is here! Today reached 83 degrees! 83! These photos are actually from yesterday. It wasn't over 80, but it was still beautiful outside.

The bad news about it being so hot outside is that it's sweltering in my office. The entire office building is off... the good news is that someone is coming to look at it tomorrow, so hopefully I won't be sitting at my desk sweating anymore. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Aside from being hot all day, I really loved my outfit yesterday! I purchased this little red sundress a couple summers ago from H&M. It's one of my favorite go to things to wear in the summer. It's the perfect color red! These photos make it look kind of orange, but in person it's bright red!

Olive has been enjoying the warm weather too. The sun puts her in a trance. It's really cute. I love the way she looks when she sits back on her butt and kicks a leg out. And I love the "get outta my face, Mom" look she's giving me here.

Over the Weekend

Here is a little peek into last weekend. It was my friend Sarah's birthday! So fun! Another friend hosted a party for Sarah at her amazing house. She has two full walls of chalkboard paint too, and let us go absolutely crazy writing all over her walls.

AND she had a whole bowl of fake mustaches. Here Tiffany and I are modeling our lovely staches.

AND there was an entire pallet of party poppers. There was also a DJ and an obsene amount of crape paper and helium balloons hanging from and clinging to (respectively) the ceiling. Let's just say none of the decorations lasted long... the balloons provided entertainment in the form of chipmunk voices and the crape paper became fantastic headbands, belts, suspenders... you name it.
Below are a few photos from a lower key moment on Saturday. I finally hung curtains in my apartment. I have huge patio doors that are amazing, because they let a ton of light in, but they were covered in HORRIBLY UGLY blinds. I love these curtains because they add a pop of color and are thin enough to let the sunlight pour in.

My new little plant, enjoying the afternoon sun. Let's hope I can keep him around! I am not known for having a green thumb...
And of course, I needed a photo of Olive enjoying the afternoon sunshine. Her favorite place in the whole apartment is laying in the sunshine on the floor. We call it her "tanning bed." When we open the curtains we say, "Okay, Olive, your tanning bed is open!" and she promptly lays down and starts panting/snorting in the sun. It's adorable.

Does anyone have big plans for this coming weekend? ALL of my best friends from college are coming into town for our friend Taylor's bachelorette party! I'm so excited!

Bad Blogger

I've been so bad this week! I vow to be better. And start finding the time to take photos! And get the boyfriend back on board to take the photos. Ready, go!

With that said, these photos are from last Friday. It was BEAUTIFUL out and I was pumped to take some pictures, but unfortunately my camera decided to die three snaps in. Grr... So, I will be the first to admit that these photos are pretty crappy. Bad cropping and bad smiles. I blame my camera battery. :)

Sunlight Girl

It has been so beautiful out this week! These photos are from Monday. It got up to 60 degrees! And today... it was up to 70 degrees. I even opened up all of the windows in the apartment today. I'm in heaven. Let's hope this weather stays!

This dress is a little over four years old. I purchased it just before my 20th birthday to wear to a Sufjan Stevens concert. Such good memories. Anyone else associate an article of clothing with a specific time or event in your life?

A lot of my clothes get circulated out after a year or so. But for some reason I just can't bear to get rid of this dress! Plus I love how perfectly it goes with navy blue tights.

Olive loves being out on the deck. Lots of people, dogs, squirrels, birds, random sounds, blowing leaves, etc. to bark at.

Also, I'm totally in love with these shoes right now. They go with almost everything! My only complaint is that they make me TOWER over everyone at my office. Ha! My boss is 5'1", so when I have these on, I'm around 5'10" or 5'11"... so it's pretty interesting when I'm standing right next to her.
