One Week Later

Wow... where did this past week go?! I have been SO unbelievably busy at the office this week- it's insane.

Portland was a whirlwind of a trip. 75% of my time was spent trapped in the hotel conference area, listening to speaker after speaker after speaker...

A co-worker and I did manage to escape and make it to Multnomah Falls (pictures coming soon!) and on the last day our boss took us to the Japanese Gardens (pictures also coming soon!) and out to one of the best dinners ever at a local restaurant called Veritable Quandry. My boss has pretty expensive taste, which means we always get to eat the BEST food!

The highlight of my trip, though, was FINALLY making it to Voo Doo Doughnuts. After seeing this episode of No Reservations, I was on a mission to one day eat a Voo Doo Doughnut. (I know, dream big.) It was quite an adventure getting there and we had to wait 30 minutes in line! But it was totally worth it!

Time to go for a run now! Gotta work off that doughnut. :)

Greetings from Portland

Hello from Portland, Oregon! I flew out here from Indy this morning for a work conference. Talk about a loooooong morning of flying!

I managed to take a couple days worth out outfit photos before I left so I could still do some updating while I'm away.

Olive was being so dang cute this day that I just had to include these! She LOVES sitting in the sun, but she overheats easily... which results in excessive snorting and panting. And she just looks so silly with her tongue hanging out of her mouth like that. This is her "it's HOT" face... a face only a mother could love. :)

We are staying in possibly the swankiest (is that a real word? I don't think so... oh well) hotel I have ever stepped foot inside. It's called The Nines. The rooms are all decked out in silver, taupe, mirrors, crystals, and tiffany's blue! I will post some pictures after the trip. I know I'm really geeking out here, but seriously! It's beautiful!

I also have already managed to do a little shopping (imagine that!) It's just my luck that the hotel is directly across the street from a huge mall. Luckily today is really the only day I have downtime- thank goodness! :) I will leave you with Olive's "I'm tired!" face. Hope everyone's having a great Earth Day!

Wedding Season Find

With wedding season upon us, I found myself once again searching for the perfect dress. Thank goodness this year was easier than last year! Last year one of my best friends from high school got married and I scoured two malls and every online shop I could think of before I finally found a dress to wear!

Fortunately this year I have discovered Ruche through Jen Loves Kev. Have you guys ever visited Ruche? It's seriously amazing. They have adorable summer dresses there right now and they are all really reasonably priced!

Next month I have two wedding weekends in a row... The first weekend I will be traveling to St. Louis to see one of Joe's best friends tie the knot, then the weekend after that is my best friend, Taylor's, wedding in Chicago! This new dress will pull double duty... serving as my dress to wear to the St. Louis wedding and my dress to wear for Taylor's rehearsal. Super pumped! :)

Happy Friday!

TGIF! This week has been grueling! I am so thankful it's Friday, unfortunately it's also a "double" day for me which means I work at my office job from 8:30 to 4:30, then go sell sushi from 5:00 to 11:00ish. Looooong day!

Okay, gotta go back to work! Sorry for the short post and also for only two posts this week.

I would say next week will be better, but I'm actually going to be in Portland part of next week for a work conference. Minus all the meetings and the fact that I have to give a presentation (eek!) it should be fun! I will be sure to take LOTS of photos while I'm there!

April Flowers

I know the saying is "April showers bring May flowers" but there have been more flowers thus far in my April than showers. And that is a good, good thing! :) These beauties were a gift from Joe. Such a great surprise!

I know it's only been three months, but when I first started this blog I was unsure of how long I would keep it up. Last summer I stumbled upon What I Wore, the first fashion blog I ever read. Through Jessica's blog I found a whole plethora of independent fashion blogs and was totally intrigued. At first I thought it was just all about documenting your outfits-which it is in a way... and that part is really fun! I love seeing how certain outfits look in pictures as opposed to how I viewed them just by looking in the mirror.

What I have learned over the last three months is that it's about much more than just showcasing your wardrobe. It really is a community. The women (and some men) who blog are full of amazing ideas. I've been inspired by countless numbers of outfit posts from different bloggers. It really has been fun digging around in my closet and finding old pieces I had forgotten all about. And I have actually shopped less since I started blogging too! (Of course there are the occasional "OMG I HAVE TO HAVE THAT" moments... *ahem* seychelles heels!)

I also love that these blogs have inspired me to start thrifting again. I used to go to thrift stores ALL the time in high school and early college. Of course back then I was mostly buying little kid t-shirts, but every once in a while I would drag home a real treasure. My life has been pretty hectic lately, but once it settles down a bit the plan is to start hitting up vintage/thrift stores again on a regular basis!

Date Night

Have I told you yet how HAPPY I am that it's finally nicer outside? (Even though today is chilly and grey... grrr...) But after today, it's supposed to get up into the mid 70s and stay there for over a week! Talk about perfect weather! :)

A few nights ago Joe and I went on a little date night. I live in an area of Indianapolis called Broad Ripple Village. It's a really trendy area full of independant bars, restaurants, and shops. I live within walking distance so it's great to be able to get out and enjoy the weather and my neighborhood now that it's been so beautiful outside!

After dinner, we stopped to get some frozen yogurt. Well actually, Joe got a chocolate milkshake... I got frozen yogurt. Because it's better for you, right? (Is it still considered better if I got chocolate and topped it with fruity pebbles, sprinkles, and mini marshmallows?)

Joe was my photographer for these. It was dark outside by this point so I had to stand in a specific spot in order for the pictures to be halfway decent. Even though I prefer having Joe take pictures for me, sometimes he's just too funny and I just end up cracking up the whole time. That was the case this night. Even though the pictures aren't that great, I still love them because they remind me of that fantastic, warm night and how much I love my Joe. :)

Currently Coveting- ModCloth Edition

Why did I not know about Polyvore until yesterday? This site is seriously amazing! This set is titled "If I had an endless supply of money... or a shopping spree at ModCloth.com"

I will confess, I have never purchased anything from ModCloth. *gasp!* I frequent their site often and lust after TONS AND TONS of cute things, but have never purchased. I have been close on a few occasions, but then the little voice in my head reminds me that I really shouldn't be spending that kind of money right now and I quickly close the browser and my temptation. Whew! Lots of close calls!

I am deperately swooning over sandal wedges right now though and have my eye on a pair from ModCloth. They are currently sold out, but the second they restock (fingers crossed that they do!) you can bet those babies will be mine!

Until then, here's my summer ModCloth wishlist:
Clockwise From Top:
LA Lady Shades: ModCloth- $12
When Doves Fly Dress: ModCloth- $65
Wicker and Chain Bag: ModCloth- $30
Gold Cuff: ModCloth- $28

Game Time

Happy Monday, everyone! Just a quick post for today... I'm too excited/nervous to write very much! In case you missed it, Butler (my alma mater) is in the national championship game tonight against Duke! Send the bulldogs some good vibes tonight... and if you're not into basketball, you can root for Butler for the sole reason that our real life macot, Butler Blue Two, is the cutest mascot ever.

Okay, onto outfit posts. I won't lie, these pictures are from last Thursday. Last Friday and today I have sported Butler t-shirts (not very fashionable.)

It was amazing outside and was the first time I've gone sans tights this spring!

It was also very windy out, so my hair was in my face like crazy. Off to grab some more caffiene and finish up some stuff at the office before my friends get into town!

It's Official

Well it's official... spring is here! Today reached 83 degrees! 83! These photos are actually from yesterday. It wasn't over 80, but it was still beautiful outside.

The bad news about it being so hot outside is that it's sweltering in my office. The entire office building is off... the good news is that someone is coming to look at it tomorrow, so hopefully I won't be sitting at my desk sweating anymore. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Aside from being hot all day, I really loved my outfit yesterday! I purchased this little red sundress a couple summers ago from H&M. It's one of my favorite go to things to wear in the summer. It's the perfect color red! These photos make it look kind of orange, but in person it's bright red!

Olive has been enjoying the warm weather too. The sun puts her in a trance. It's really cute. I love the way she looks when she sits back on her butt and kicks a leg out. And I love the "get outta my face, Mom" look she's giving me here.
